May Blog-A-Thon Day Thirty One – May 2014 Favourites

Hi Guys!

We have made it to the last day of May Blog-A-Thon yay!!!! I have had a lot of fun challenging myself to upload a new post for every day in the month of May as hard as it was sometimes. I hope you all enjoyed it and I may do this kind of thing again some time in the future. I have never really had a set upload routine but before May I generally tried to post 3-4 times per week so normally every second day or so. I plan to go back to uploading around 3-4 posts per week for the foreseeable future. Now onto today’s post, I thought it was only fitting to upload my favourite products for this month on the final day of May Blog-A-Thon.

All favourites

I have not been wearing makeup everyday this month as I haven’t been working as many days and don’t tend to wear makeup if I am just sitting around the house blogging. So I don’t have a lot of makeup items this month and I also noticed that two of the items I have were actually in last month’s favourites…oops! Sorry about that, I didn’t realise until after I had chosen my products and taken and uploaded photos of them. I guess if I am featuring them in two months in a row you know I truly love them.

Ok let’s get onto the products,

face masks

Arbonne SeaSource Sea Mud Face & Body Mask –

This is one of the products that I featured last month and this really is one of my favourite masks. I won’t talk too much about ti given I already have before but it is just a really great mud mask that really helps to clean out my pores and clear my skin up.

nude lips

Nude Lips –

This month I have been really loving to wear a nude lip all the time which is so unlike me. I am usually the girl rocking bright purple lipstick at work! These four products I have been really loving to get the perfect nude lips this month.

–       Essence Metal Glam Lipgloss in Glam-Me

This was limited edition a couple of months ago so I am not sure if you get still get it but it is a really nice shimmery golden nude lip gloss that is a great topper for any of the following products.

–       Milani Colour Sensational Lipstick in Nude Crème

This is a really great pinky/beige nude lipstick that smells like watermelon!

–       Bite Beauty High Pigment Lip Pencil in Madeira

This is another great pinky/beige nude that is a little paler than the Milani or Australis lipsticks and is so easy to just throw on and go. I absolutely love this lip pencil.

–       Australis Velourlips Matte Lip Cream in Pa-Ree

I cannot wear this lip product alone, I hate the feeling of it as it feels kind of dry and sticky, it’s so weird! However I do love this lip product as a base to any lipstick or gloss as it is very long lasting and does not feel uncomfortable once it has something else on top of it.

perfume

Brittney Spears Island Fantasy Eau De Toilette –

I know its Autumn in Australia so I should be going for warmer scents but I love fresh summer scents all year round! This smells like a tropical beach holiday in a bottle! It’s very fresh and fruity and I absolutely love this scent.

mascara

Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara –

I have been enjoying this mascara a lot this month and this is the second product to be featured in my favourites two months in a row. I do plan on doing a full review on it soon so I won’t talk too much about it but I do really like it.

toner

Michael Todd True Organics Blue Green Algae Toner –

I hauled this product this month and so far I really like it. It has a very herbal/lavender scent so if you are sensitive to scents this may bother you even though the scent is from the natural products in it. I used to use the Michael Todd Cranberry toner and I have purchased another one of that to use next but I have been really liking this one to. The toner is refreshing but doesn’t dry my skin out.

body butter

Arbonne Ginger and Citrus Body Butter –

This body butter was a part of the limited edition holiday range last Christmas and I have been absolutely loving it recently. It has the best light and fresh scent that is very subtle and not offensive in any way. It is very moisturising and sinks into the skin quickly which I love.

concealer

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Sand –

I have had this concealer in my draw unopened for ages because I thought I had picked up the wrong shade and it would be too dark for me but I opened it this month and found I actually can use it. This is a light coverage concealer so even though it is a little dark it still works under my eyes and I usually put a highlighting concealer over the top anyways. It is smooth and creamy and blends in well. Not my favourite concealer due to the low coverage but I have still been enjoying it for a basic everyday concealer.

eye pencil

Jordanna 12 Hr Made to Last Eyeshadow pencil in Continuous Almond –

I have been using this as an eyeshadow base and it is amazing! It is smooth and creamy and covers and discolouration on my eye lids and my eye shadow doesn’t budge all day! I love this!

So that sums up my favourites for this month, let me know in the comments below what you have been loving this month.

All products mentioned in this post were purchased by me with my own money. I am not being paid or sponsored to do this review and all thoughts are my own.

May Blog-A-Thon Day Thirty – Second Liebster Award

fleur-de-liebster

Hi Everyone!

First of all I realise it is not the 30th yet but I will not be able to get this post up tomorrow due to work commitments so I decided to just put it up today in addition to today’s post. I have had the honour of being nominated for another Liebster Award which is a great award that recognises bloggers with under 200 (some say 2000 so either) follows and is a great way for bloggers to get more recognition. I have been nominated this time by Cheap and Lazy Beauty and I highly recommended going over and checking out her blog if you haven’t already.

The Rules –

You must link back to the person who nominated you; You must answer the 11 questions given to you by the nominee before you. Probably Jordanna Best Lash Extreme Mascara or Essence Brow Gel.

May Blog-A-Thon Day Twenty Eight – Lorac Pro Palette – Review and Swatches

Lorac Pro

Hello my lovelies!

I hope you are all doing well. Today I am going to be doing a review on the infamous Lorac Pro Palette along with some swatches for you.

I know most of you have probably already seen a whole bunch of reviews on this palette as it has been getting a lot of hype in the blogger/vlogger world for a long time now but I still wanted to do my own review on it and let you know my thoughts.

First of all unfortunately Lorac is not a brand that we have access to here in Australia which is really disappointing because so far I have absolutely loved everything I have tried from them. To get my Lorac Pro palette I had a friend purchase it and ship it over from America for me but if you want to get your hands on it you may need to try Amazon or eBay however I don’t know if there are fakes getting around on those sites or not though so I can’t recommend them to you. A friend of mine did tell me she got hers off www.beauty.com and used a shipping forwarding company to send it here for her so that might be worth looking into perhaps.

DSCN1700

First of all let’s talk about the packaging. The Lorac Pro palette comes in a black cardboard packaging that has a magnetic closure. The palette is very slim and sleek and I like the packaging on this palette a lot. It is simple and practical and won’t take up much room if you are travelling or keeping it in your makeup kit.

This palette contains 16 eye shadows with the top row being all matte shades and the bottom row being all shimmer shades. I love the great mixture of mattes and shimmers in this palette, it makes it very versatile and easy to get a complete look from this one palette. I have buying a palette full of all shimmers and little to no mattes and you then need to get other shades from elsewhere to create a complete look, ain’t nobody got time for dat!

The shades in this palette are great, they range from light highlight shades to dark smokey shades so you can create a huge array of looks from a simple natural eye to a dark smokey eye. There are also a couple of nice brighter colours in there like a gold, copper and purple to create some fun more colourful looks with as well.

Now onto the texture of these eye shadows…oh the texture! It is unlike anything I have ever felt before from any other brand and is a dream to work with! The texture of these eye shadows is amazingly buttery and smooth, they feel almost like a cream to the touch but they are a powder. They blend beautifully and last all day on the lids. The pigmentation on these shadows absolutely blows my mind, you barely need to touch your finger or brush to them and you will get amazing colour pay off. The only downside to the consistency of these eye shadows is that because they are so buttery and pigmented they do have a bit of fall out so you just need to be careful to not put too much on your brush and to tap off the excess before applying them to your eyes.

Here are the swatches of all of the shadows in the palette;

Top Row Swatches

Top Row Swatches From Left to Right (Matte Shades) – White, Cream, Taupe, Lt Pink, Mauve, Sable, Espresso, Black

 Bottom Row Swatches

Bottom Row Swatches From Left to Right (Shimmer Shades) – Nude, Champagne, Gold, Lt Bronze, Pewter, Garnet, Deep Purple, Slate

I absolutely love this palette and would highly recommend it to anyone, the quality is just unbelievable and I think anyone would love this palette and the shades in it. Let me know in the comments below what your favourite products from Lorac are and if you live outside of the US where you purchase your Lorac products from.

May Blog-A-Thon Day Twenty Seven – Makeup Palette’s of the Week – It Cosmetics Naturall Pretty Matte Palette & Sleek Makeup I-Divine Sunset Palette

Hi Guys,

So last week I was using the Lorac Unzipped palette for the entire week and I really enjoyed it. It is a really nice palette with some beautiful warm rose gold and burgundy shades. This week I have decided to use a combination of two different palettes as one is mostly shimmery and one is mostly matte so together they should work really well together to create a range of looks. I will be using the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty palette and the Sleek Makeup I-Divine Sunset palette.

May Blog-A-Thon Day Twenty Six – Arbonne Lip Polish – Review and Swatches

Hello Lovelies!

Today I am going to do a quick review and some swatches of the Arbonne Lip Polishes. Arbonne International is a company that provides all natural skincare, hair care, cosmetics and health products. I absolutely love Arbonne products and if you don’t already know this about me I am a consultant with them. Now before people get defensive, I am not being paid or sponsored in any way to do this post or any other posts I make on any Arbonne products and I am not trying to promote the products, I just genuinely love so many of their products and if there are any I don’t like I will be 100% honest on that. I am mostly a consultant for my own personal benefit, not to make sales or build a business (basically I do it for the discount!).

Ok so now that is out of the way let’s get onto the review. I have three of the shades to show you guys and to talk about but there are seven shades in total in the range. These retail for $37.00 each so they are quite pricey and can be found on the Arbonne International website below, however you will need to find a consultant to order them through.

Glosses

Raisin, Brown Sugar, Posh

These lip glosses come in a clear plastic rectangular packaging with a black lid and have a standard doe foot applicator. I quite like the packaging, it’s simple yet still elegant and it’s functional. They have a slight fragrance that is kind of fruity but I can’t quite pin point what it is. They do not contain artificial fragrances so the scent would be from whatever natural ingredients have been used.

The shades I have all have a slight shimmer to them and what I would call a medium level of pigmentation. They are definitely not sheer but are not as pigmented as say the NYX butter glosses. They glide on smoothly and feel quite comfortable on the lips. I don’t really know how to describe the texture of these lip glosses; they are not really sticky but do have a very slight tackiness that makes them last for hours on the lips but I don’t find it uncomfortable at all and I am not a lip gloss person because I hate any kind of stickiness on my lips.

Swatches

Raisin, Brown Sugar, Posh

Raisin – This is a burgundy/red shade with gold and red shimmer. This is a nice dark shade to top off any vampy lip.

Brown Sugar – This is a peachy/beige nude shade with gold and pink shimmer. This is a really nice topper for any nude or neutral pink lipstick.

Posh – This is a baby pink with silver and pink shimmer. I really love this shade to top off any pink lipstick.

Overall I really like these lip glosses but NYX butter glosses are still my all times favorites as they are more pigmented and creamy and less expensive.

Let me know in the comments if you have tried these glosses and what your thoughts are on them and if you have any shades you can recommend.
