My Coconut Cream Brown Sugar Emulsified Body Scrub

Coconut Cream Scrub

Hello Lovelies,

I hope you are all doing well.

Most of you should know by now that I have started my own business selling my hand made Soy candles and my range of bath and body products which are now available for sale in my Etsy store.

I want to keep my blog primarily related to reviewing beauty products as it always has been and I don’t want to bombard you with posts promoting my new business however as many of my products are beauty related I thought that some of you may be interested in seeing the occasional post showing some of my beauty products that I have available given this is a beauty blog after all.

Today I thought I would tell you about my emulsified sugar body scrubs in particular my deliciously scented Coconut Cream brown sugar scrub.

Sugar is an excellent exfoliator and perfect for scrubbing away that dead winter skin ready for Summer here in Australia! Especially important if you are self tanning to exfoliate really well beforehand to ensure the tanner does not stick to any dry patches which can look horrible, dark and patchy.

My scrubs are formulated without any harsh chemicals or preservatives and contain an abundance of skin loving oils which will leave your skin feeling baby soft. I have dry skin and I find I do not need to moisturise after using this scrub as the oils and Shea extract do a wonderful job at hydrating my skin.

These scrubs contain a whopping 900g of product so will last you for ages and with the addition of the cute wooden scoop and ribbon they make a perfect present for Christmas.

Can be purchased here, use the code ABEAUTYOBSESSION10 to get 10% off your order.

Let me know in the comments below if you would like me to do some more posts showing you some of the great beauty products that I have in my line.

Thank you for reading xox

Australis AC on Tour Contouring & Highlighting Kit Review & Swatches

IMG_0026

Hello Lovelies!

Today I am going to do a really quick review on the new limited edition Australis AC on Tour Contouring & Highlighting Kit.

I purchased this kit from Priceline here in Australia but I believe it is available from anywhere that stocks Australis products. The cost of this kit is $16.95 and you get three highlight shades and three contour shades.

I have heard people are having trouble finding this in stock still but I have also heard that it is due to be re-stocked again in the coming weeks so keep an eye out for it if you are interested in getting it as it is limited edition.

The packaging is made from black plastic that is fairly sturdy, there are six pans inside and no mirror which is unfortunate, I would have preferred to see a mirror inside but this is not a deal breaker for me.

This palette is supposed to be a dupe for the more expensive Anastasia Beverly Hills contour palette which I don’t have but by looking at pictures they do look very similar.

Shade descriptions – Top Row – Left to Right

First Shade – Matte pink toned highlight

Second Shade –  Matte yellow toned highlight

Third Shade – Shimmer pink toned highlight

Bottom Row – Left to Right

First Shade – Matte neutral brown

Second Shade – Matte cool toned brown

Third Shade – Matte warm toned brown

The formula on these powders is very smooth and creamy. They blend out fairly easily and are very pigmented so I have to use a light hand with any of the contour shades as I am very pale.

I love to mix the two matte highlight shades together and use them to set my under eye concealer. I do not find the powders to settle into the fine lines under my eyes, they last all day and give a lovely subtle highlight effect. These two shades are definitely my favourites from the whole kit.

The shimmery pink highlight shade is nice but definitely not my favourite highlighter. It is not too overpowering so is nice for an every day look and the pink tone is perfect for fair skinned girls. I like this highlighter but I prefer a more intense champagne shade highlighter for most of my makeup looks.

The first contour shade I haven’t got a lot of use out of as I find it looks quite muddy on my pale skin tone. The middle shade is a nice cool toned shade for contouring but I also find this one to look a bit muddy on me if I am not careful with it. These shades may be better for medium to dark skin tones and if you are fair I suggest being careful with these two by using a light hand when applying.

The third contour shade is very warm toned and surprisingly actually suits me the best out of the three but only if used for bronzing not contouring. Again it is very pigmented and I have to use a light hand with it.

Overall I think this is a great palette and would make a great addition to any makeup lovers kit at an affordable price. Despite not being a huge fan of the contour shades I think this palette was worth the money for the highlight shades alone. The contour shades will still be a great addition to my professional makeup kit as I am sure they will be great for many other skin tones despite them not looking that great on me.

Let me know if you have tried this palette and what your thoughts are on it and/or if you also have the Anastasia palette and how you think they compare, I would love to hear your thoughts.

Makeup Geek Vegas Lights Palette Review and Swatches

IMG_0022.JPG

Hi Everyone!
If you have been reading my blog for a while then you will know that I absolutely love Makeup Geek products so when I heard they were coming out with this limited edition Vegas Lights palette I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.
This is a limited edition palette containing six eyeshadows, five are new exclusive shades and one is already a permanent shade.
You can purchase this palette from the Makeup Geek website for $37.99 USD and they ship world wide.
The palette is made from sturdy cardboard with a magnetic closure and a mirror inside. The palette has a lovely design on the inside and out and the eyeshadows are magnetised to the palette and can be removed and placed into a Z palette which I love! I think it is such a great idea to be able to change out the shadows in this palette.

Now onto the shades and swatches;

Casino – this is a beautiful shimmery yellow golden shade that is so buttery and pigmented. This is one of my favourite shades makeup geek has ever came out with, it’s amazing!

Sin City – this is warm orange shade with gold shimmer. This is a gorgeous colour but I was a little disappointed in this one as it is not as pigmented as the other shadows.

Roulette – this is a stunning shimmery cranberry shade. This is lovely and smooth and very pigmented.

Mirage – this is a matte yellow based cream shade that makes a beautiful brow bone highlight. I really like this shade and it blends beautifully.

Desert Sands – this is probably my favourite shade in the palette! It is an amazing warm toned brown that makes the perfect transition colour. It is so pigmented and smooth and I will cry if they don’t make this permanent!

Bada Bing – this is the one shade that is already in the permanent line and so I already owned this one. It is a matte deep brown with gold glitter throughout. The glitter is not really detectable on the eye. This shade is nice but could be more pigmented and I wish they had put a new shade in the palette because I really don’t need two of this shade.

Swatches from left to right – Casino, SinCity, Roulette, Mirage, Desert Sands, Bada Bing.

Overall the quality of this palette is awesome and I really hope they make these new shades permanent. This palette is limited edition so if you want it you had better pick it up quick as it has already been around for a while and I believe I read this is the second stock batch out now and once it sells out that’s it, there won’t be anymore released.

So that sums up this review, let me know in the comments if you have tried this palette and what your thoughts on it are.

Love you guys xo

My New Makeup Vanity!

IMG_0020.JPG

Hello lovelies!

I hope you are all well. I just wanted to do a quick post showing you my new makeup vanity which I am totally obsessed with!
I have never had a proper makeup vanity and up until now have had to stand in a dark corner in front of a mirror with no lighting with my makeup next to it in plastic drawers…not ideal!! So to have a proper vanity with a Hollywood mirror is so exciting for me.
So here is how I made this;
The drawers are from Ikea and are the Alex 5 drawers in black and I have 3 of them under my desk.
Linnmon 200cm black/brown table top sitting on top of the drawers.
The chair is one of the Borje dining chairs.
The White pots holding my brushes, eyeliners, lip liners and lip crayons are the Skurar pots which I think look super cute.
My lovely husband made the mirror with the lights for me which I love so much not only for doing my makeup but for taking photos for my blog in front of as they are nice and bright and are the cool daylight bulbs so they keep colours true.
The clear set of acrylic drawers on top of the desk are one of the filing drawers from Offiveworks, these come in different sizes and colours. This holds so much makeup! I was shocked when I was filling it up how much fits in there.
I absolutely love my new vanity and hope you guys enjoyed this quick post showing you where I got everything from.

What does your vanity look like? I would love to see photos 🙂
