I purchased some products from a couple of the recent MAC limited edition collections that I received in the mail today and I thought I would show you what I got along with some swatches in case you are thinking of picking up some of these items. I don’t normally purchase much from MAC, I just think their products are so hit and miss and I can get much better products for my money most of the time. I am a MAC Pro member as I am a freelance makeup artist so I do receive a discount on their products but despite this I still find them to be very expensive for what they are. I don’t think I will renewing my MAC Pro membership when it expires later in the year because even with the 30% discount I can still get the products cheaper from the American website at the US full price and use a shipping forwarding company to get them to me. I also believe I can order MAC Pro products straight off the US website (correct me If I’m wrong) which would be so much easier because in Australia you can’t do that. I have to call or email a lady from Sydney to place my order and it is so hard because she NEVER answers the phone!
I can’t use my pro card on the US website but like I said the full US prices are still way cheaper than the Australian prices with the discount. You can purchase all of these items from M.A.C Cosmetics website or in store in Australia.
When I seen the Alluring Aquatic collection released in the US I got so excited because the packaging looks stunning and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on some items just for the packaging alone! I know that sounds crazy but I am a sucker for cute packaging. When I was on the website looking at the items when they were released in Australia I also seen another collection called the Pedro Lourenco collection and some products in that collection caught my eye as well so I decided to pick a couple up. I also got a permanent product that I have been wanting to try for ages as well which I will also show you.
The Alluring Aquatic collection comes in a teal box with water droplet detailing on it. On the boxes the water droplets are indented into the box and on the product packaging themselves they are raised so the packaging has a texture and looks like it has water droplets all over it. This packaging is absolutely stunning and I am obsessed with it.
The Pedro Lourenco packaging comes in a standard black box with gold writing. The product packaging itself it a black matte finish with gold writing and gold inside the bullet. This packaging is sleek and beautiful and I absolutely love it!
Here is what I got and some swatches on each item. I only got these today and wanted to get this post up ASAP because these limited edition collections sell out fast so I haven’t had a chance to test wear time of any of these products yet. If you want a full review on any product please let me know in the comments below and I will try and do that as soon as I can for you.
M.A.C Alluring Aquatic Bronzing Powder in Refined Golden – $41.00 AUD
This bronzer is part of MAC’s permanent collection but you can get it in this collection in the beautiful limited edition packaging. This is a very warm bronzer with gold shimmer in it. It feels smooth when swatched and is quite pigmented. I am very fair so I am going to have to use a light hand with this product otherwise I think it will look too orange on me but I will play with it and see how I go. They did release another bronzer in golden which is lighter and from what I have heard less pigmented than this one. They also released two extra dimension bronzers in the collection and I was debating getting the one in Aphrodite’s Shell but I seen comparison swatches between this one and that one on Temptalia’s blog and they looked very similar so I decided to go with this one because the lid of the extra dimension bronzers was clear on top and this bronzer is solid all over which I thought looked better and it was a lot cheaper than the extra dimension one. I am not wondering if I should have gotten the extra dimension one as it had a slightly more pink hue to it and may have suited my skin better but I will make this one work.
M.A.C Alluring Aquatic Lipstick in Goddess of the Sea (Creamsheen) & Enchanted One (Matte)- $38.00 AUD
Enchanted One (Left) – I was debating getting this lipstick because I thought it would be too dark and brown for my pale skin tone but I actually really like it and am so pleased I got it. It is a peachy brown nude shade with a matte finish. Despite it being matte it is very creamy and glides on smoothly. This is not a shade I would normally go for but I think it looks very flattering on the lips and I am excited to wear it.
Goddess of the Sea (Right) – This is my first lipstick from MAC with a cream sheen finish and it is as the name implies very creamy but it is not as opaque as the other lipsticks. This is a pretty muted purple shade that is perfect for Autumn and Winter which we are going into in Australia however it does make my teeth look insanely yellow! My teeth are not the whitest to begin with because I drink a lot of tea but this makes them look disgustingly yellow so I am not that impressed with this shade and am not sure how I am going to wear it which is so disappointing because it is very pretty.
M.A.C Pedro Lourenco Lipsticks in Roxo (Amplified) and Pech Beige (Amplified) – $38.00 AUD each
Roxo (Left) – This is a beautiful berry red shade that is going to be perfect for these colder months. It glides on smoothly and I think I am really going to like this one. It is an amplified finish so it is very pigmented and smooth.
Peach Beige (Right) – This is straight up concealer colour! I am a NW15-NW20 skin tone so quite pale and this makes me look so dead and like a put straight up concealer on my lips! If you hate a very pale nude or have any colour to your skin I would not recommend this one for you. I think I will be able to make it work with a darker lip liner and gloss but I was so shocked when I first swatched this is seen how pale it is.
M.A.C Pro Longwear Concealer in NW15 – $32.00 AUD
This is such a cult product and I have been wanting to try this concealer for ages and finally decided to pick it up. This is a full coverage concealer that people rave about and I cannot wait to give this a try.
So that is everything I purchased from M.A.C, let me know what your favourite M.A.C products are and if you have tried anything from either of these collections, I would love to hear your opinions.
