Beauty Blogger Collaboration with Cheap and Lazy Beauty – Favourite High End Makeup Products

All Products

Hi Everyone!

I am really excited to bring you this post today as it is a collaboration with the lovely Emily from Cheap and Lazy Beauty. Emily approached me with a request to do a collaboration and I was so excited and so of course said yes! If you haven’t checked out her blog I highly recommend you do so.

We decided Emily would do her top drugstore product from a list of categories and I would do my top high end from those same categories. This was a really fun post to write and I hope you all really enjoy it.

Here is the list of high end products I came up with that I absolutely love;

Primer

Primer – Arbonne Makeup Primer

If you have been following me for a while you would know I absolutely love this primer and it is the only one I ever use. Arbonne products are all natural which I love and this primer performs better than any primer I have ever used. It has a silicon feel to it and it glides on so smoothly and fills in my pores and makes my foundation go on so much smoother. I find this helps make my foundation last much longer throughout the day and it doesn’t break me out like many other primers do.

Arbonne Foundation

Foundation – Arbonne Perfecting Liquid Foundation

Again if you have been following me for a while you would know this is my Holy Grail foundation especially in conjunction with the above primer. This foundation is a medium coverage but can be built up to full coverage. It has a really nice natural finish and lasts all day especially when I use the primer with it. I highly recommend this foundation to anyone, the natural finish means it will suit any skin type and it has no nasty ingredients in it that break my skin out.

Hourglass

Powder – Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light

I am sure you have all heard about these powders a million times and it is for a good reason. These powders are designed to give your face the effect of being in certain lighting such as dim light, mood light etc. These powders are really finely milled so they look really beautiful and natural on the skin. I have Dim light which is really pretty but does have a little colour to it so if I am really pale I can’t wear it as it is a little too dark but for when I have a bit of a tan It is beautiful and gives a really nice soft finish to my skin.

Art Deco Bronzer

Bronzer – Art Deco Bronzing Powder in 02

This particular bronzer is from a limited edition collection but I think you may still be able to find it and I also believe they have this bronzer in many other limited edition collections and also possibly in the permanent line but I could be wrong. This is a beautiful satin finish bronzer that is a nice neutral tone, it’s not too warm or too cool. This blends beautifully and lasts for a really long time on the skin. I especially love it in this gorgeous tribal packaging with the tribal embossing on the product, it is so cute! I was so sad the other day when I hit pan on it, I think I am going to try and pick up another one as a backup because I love it that much!

Dior Blush

Blush – Dior Rosy Glow Blush in 001 Petal

This is such a stunning cool toned pink blush that has a technology in it to transform itself to suit your skin tone when applied. I have noticed this looks different on different skin tones and does pull a little warmer on me and makes for the perfect blush shade. It has a faint scent of roses but you can only smell that when you put your nose up to it. This blush blends like a dream and is pigmented but not too pigmented so it can be built up nicely without looking like a clown! I have a full review and swatches here if you would like to check it out.

Mary Lou

Highlighter – The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer

This is such a stunning highlighter! It is a really intense champagne highlight so if you don’t like your highlight to be really bold then this one isn’t for you but it looks so beautiful on the skin and even though it is quite intense I don’t find it to look weird or out of place at all. The formula of this product is amazing, it feels so smooth and creamy. This is really highly pigmented so you only need a tiny amount so this will last for ages. This also makes a really gorgeous eye shadow and I would highly recommend it if you are after a new highlighter.

Bite

Lipstick – Bite Beauty Lipsticks

I couldn’t just choose one lipstick for this category so I chose a lipstick range being the Bite Beauty lipstick range as I have absolutely loved every one I have purchased from this brand. Bite Beauty make lipsticks from food grade ingredients so they are all natural and they say their lipsticks are actually safe to be eaten (not that I think I would ever be that hungry!). These lipsticks are extremely pigmented and smooth and creamy and they last for hours on the lips. They have gotten the formula spot on with these and I can’t wait to try more shades out. I have a full review and swatches on all the shades I own here if you want more info on these.

Lip Polish

Lip Gloss – Arbonne Lip Polishes

These lip glosses are really nice, they are not too sticky but have just a slight tack to them that is just enough to make them really long lasting on the lips but without being gross and annoying to wear because there is nothing worse than a sticky lip gloss! They all have a slight shimmer to them and they make really nice toppers to any lipstick or can be worn alone for a nice natural look. Full review and swatches here.

Lorac Pro

 Chocolate bar

Eye Shadow Palette – Lorac Pro and Too Faced Chocolate Bar

I couldn’t choose between these two for this category so I decided to include both! I have reviews and swatches of both of these which I will link below so I won’t go into too much detail but these are such amazing quality and if you are looking for a new neutral palette I would highly recommend both of these.

The Lorac Pro palette has 16 shades and the entire top row is matte and the entire bottom row is shimmery which I love because you get such a great selection of shades and have everything you need. The formula of these eye shadows is like nothing I have ever felt before, they are so buttery and smooth it blows me away every time I use them. I also really love the slim simple packaging of this palette, it doesn’t take up much room and is perfect for travelling.

The Too Faced Chocolate bar palette is designed to look like an actual chocolate bar which I think is so cute and there is cocoa powder in the eye shadows so it actually smells like chocolate as well! This palette also has 16 shades and has a great mix of shimmer and mattes. This palette is primarily neutral but they have thrown some more colorful shades in there to like a pink, purple and green which I think is great because you can experiment with some colour in conjunction with the neutrals if you want which makes it very versatile. The formula of these eye shadows is really good, they are very pigmented and smooth and blend well.

I love both of these palette and if you haven’t tried them I recommend checking them out. Review and swatches on Lorac Pro here and on Too Faced Chocolate Bar here if you want to see more detail on these palettes.

Nars

Eye Primer – Nars Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base

Now for this category Emily is doing her favourite drugstore single eyeshadow and I am doing eyeshadow primer as Emily did not have a drugstore primer and I did not have a high end single shadow. I prefer eyeshadow palettes so I almost never purchase single eye shadows hence why I don’t have one to share.

I do however definitely have a favourite high end eyeshadow primer and it is the Nars one. This primer is amazing and I never found a primer that even comes close to how this one performs. I have quite oily eyelids so always have to use a primer otherwise my eyeshadow will crease within hours. Most other primers I have tried will make my eyeshadow last throughout a standard work day pretty well but this one will make my eyeshadow last all day AND night, it is unreal!

So that sums up my list of my favourite high end makeup prodcuts. I had lots of fun picking these products out and writing about them, they are all products I use very regularly and couldn’t live without. Emily is such a sweetheart and I loved working with her on this collaboration, please go check out her blog if you haven’t already.

Would You Rather Tag – Beauty Edition

Hi Guys,

I think this tag has been getting around for a long time now but I thought it was so fun and really wanted to do it. Basically you just need to answer this questions below with which scenario you would prefer.

QUESTIONS:
1.) Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lipglosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?

This one is so hard for me to answer because eye shadow palettes are my favourite makeup item to purchase however I think I would rather lose all of my palettes over everything else because at least I could still use my eye liners as shadows and I couldn’t live without mascara and lipstick!
2.) Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?

I would look ridiculous and like a man with no hair so I would have to choose to never cut it again, although that is so gross to me!
3.) Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?

Pink cheek for sure, coral cheeks don’t suit me very well so I rarely wear them.
4.) If you had $1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?

Makeup for sure, I don’t enjoy clothes shopping anywhere near as much as makeup.
5.) Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?

I think eyeliner as lipstick because I could just get a neutral coloured eye liner like a nude or pink and use it like a lip liner and fill in my lips. Lipstick on the eyes would look gross!
6.) Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?

We don’t have Sephora in Australia yet (it’s coming at the end of the year yay!!!) and I am not that big of a MAC fan so I would definitely say Sephora because even though I have never shopped there I know I’m going to love it because they stock so many amazing brands.
7.) Would you rather only use one eyeshadow color or one lip color for the rest of your life?

Both options sound so boring! I think one eye shadow colour maybe….
8.) Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?

I get cold really easily so I should probably say winter clothes in summer but erhh how uncomfortable would that be!
9.) Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?

Bright nails.
10.) Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?

I would say lip product because knowing me I would have 10 others very similar anyways!
11.) Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?

Messy Bun.
12.) Would your rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?

I’m not a huge fan of either to be honest so neither would be a major loss. Probably lip gloss because whilst I hardly ever paint my finger nails because they are so weak and damaged I can never go without having my toe nails painted.
13.) Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or sharpie them in everyday?

I’d have to run the sharpie option, no eye brows is criminal!
14.) Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?

Nail polish hands down.

I nominate all of my readers to do this tag, it’s quite a challenge but very fun!

June 2014 Favourites

All Products

Hello lovelies!

I can’t believe another month has passed and we are now half way through 2014! Being the end of another month it is time for me to share with you all what I have been loving for the past month so let’s get into it. I know that normally in winter people go for a paler look and darker lips and eye looks but despite the freezing weather I have been loving a really bronzed look the last few weeks so you will a lot of bronze coloured products in this month’s favourites. I probably look very out of place wearing extremely summer friendly makeup whilst walking around rugged up and shivering but oh well it’s just what I have been liking lately.

M.A.C Minerlize Blush in Warm Soul –

The first product I have been loving this month is Warm Soul from MAC. This is a really pretty shimmery bronze blush with hints of rose in it. It looks so pretty on the skin and blends beautifully and has been going really well with my bronzed looks I have been loving.

M.A.C Bronzing Powder in Refined Golden –

I got this bronzer as part of the Alluring Aquatics collection but it is available in their permanent range. When it first arrived I wasn’t sure I would like it because it is quite orange toned and has a lot of gold shimmer in it but with a tan it looks really pretty.

Makeup Geek Eyeshadows in Cocoa Bear, Crème Brulee and Bling –

I have been loving these eye shadows in conjunction with the gold base and shadow that I will talk about below to create a really beautiful warm golden eye. I use Crème Brulee in the crease, the gold shadows below on the lid, Cocoa Bear in the outer v and on lower last line and Bling on the brow bone. It is such a beautiful eye look and really makes my blue eyes pop.

Bath and Body Works Candle in Coconut Leaves –

I am obsessed with this scent! It smells like a tropical heaven to me and I find it so relaxing. The notes in this candle are tangerine, papaya and coconut and it smells so delicious! I have been making my own candles lately as I want to go into business selling them and one of my supplies has found a duplicate for this scent in a fragrance oil so I can try and make my own candles that smell like this. I am so excited to try it out!

Arbonne RE9 Firming Body Cream –

I love using this firming cream on my neck and décolletage as that area along with your hands and the parts of your body that show age first so it is important to look after them. This body cream has a really nice light fresh scent and is made from all natural ingredients. I don’t have any wrinkles or anything like that yet so I can’t really tell if it helps with those issues but it feels and smells really nice and I am hoping it is helping to prevent wrinkles and ages skin.

Essence Fix & Matte Translucent Loose Powder –

I have loved this powder for a long time now, it is so finely milled and I use it every day for setting my under eye concealer but have recently been also using it all over my face and I love it! It keeps me matte for hours and because it is so finely milled it doesn’t look cakey. This powder is really inexpensive so I would really recommend checking it out if you are after a new powder. Because it is translucent all skin tones can use it.

Eyeko Skinny Mini Liquid Eyeliner in Black –

This is a sample size that I got for free from beautybay.com when I placed my last order and I have been really loving it this month. The pen has a really fine tip which makes it very easy to get a precise line and the liner is super black and lasts all day long without any smudging at all. I love it!

Maybelline Color Tattoo in 45 Bold Gold and LÓreal Paris Color Infallible Eyeshadow in 027 Goldmine –

As I spoke about before I have been loving using these two in conjunction with the Makeup Geek shadows above to create a really beautiful warm golden eye. I place the color tattoo down first as a base to make the shadow last longer and to make the eye shadow on top pop more. I then place the L’Oreal eye shadow on top and the combination creates the most beautiful gold shade ever!

Tweezerman Leopard Slanted Tweezers –

Let me start by saying I have always hated plucking my eyebrows. I have always just used tweezes from beauty supply stores or Priceline and find it so painful and avoid doing it as much as possible (to the point of letting my eye brows become a disgrace from lack of care!). I have always heard people rave about Tweezerman tweezers but they are soo expensive I took me forever to take the leap and purchase them and I am so glad I finally did. These make plucking my brows a breeze, it doesn’t hurt at all and they are so sharp and slanted that they take out each hair so easily. I love these and wish I had purchased them years ago!

Arbonne Mineral Powder Foundation in Medium Beige and Tan –

I have been loving both of these for different areas, I use the Medium Beige all over my face on top of a CC cream or light foundation and then I use the Tan on my décolletage to give me a tanned look. These have a very slight shimmer in them that gives a really pretty healthy glow. They give a beautiful smooth natural finish and I have been really loving them especially in combination. It gives a lovely tanned glow using the Tan shade down my neck and chest, I highly recommend trying these out. They don’t give enough coverage for me personally alone on my face which is why I like to use a CC cream underneath and the combination gives perfect coverage without being cakey.

M.A.C Matte Lipstick in Enchanted One –

This lipstick is part of the Alluring Aquatic collection and I ummed and arrhed about getting it for ages before going ahead and including it in my order and I am so happy I did. It is a warm peachy/brown nude that I thought would be too dark for me but I actually really love it. The formula is so creamy for a matte and this shade is perfect for everyday and especially with the bronzed looks I have been going for, and who can resist that gorgeous packaging!

That sums up my favourites for this month. Let me know in the comments if you have tried any of these products and also what you have been loving this month, I would love to know.

Milani Color Statement Lipsticks – Review and Swatches

All lipsticks

Hi Guys!

If you seen my last haul from www.beautyjoint.com you will have seen that I picked up some more shades from the Milani Color Statement lipsticks so I thought I would do a review and swatches of all the shades I own.

These retail for $5.69 on the beautyjoint website below so they are very affordable. Milani is not available in store in Australia so I purchase all of my Milani products from this website as they are not too overpriced.

http://beautyjoint.com/lips/milani-color-statement-lipstick

These lipsticks come in a gold tube with Milani written on the tube and bottom of the tube shows the shade and name of the lipstick. I love the packaging, I think it is very pretty and having the swatch of the shade on the bottom makes it so easy to find the shade you are looking for.

First 5

Last 4

The lipsticks all have a sweet watermelon scent to them. I really like the scent however if you are sensitive to scented products you may not like these as the scent is quite strong.

The pigmentation of these lipsticks is amazing! These glide on so smoothly and are so opaque and creamy. The formula of these reminds me of the Lime Crime lipsticks but these are much lower in price. I am obsessed with these lipsticks, I think they are such great quality at such an affordable price and I would highly recommend checking them out as they have a huge range of shades available.

These are the shades I have in my collection;

Swatches

Swatches from left to right – Nude Crème, Naturally Chic, Rose Amour, Hot Pink Rage, Fruit Punch, Raspberry Rush, Sangria, Violet Volt, Black Cherry

Nude Creme

26 Nude Crème

This is the perfect nude shade for my pale skin. It is a really nice pink/beige nude and is light enough for my skin tone without being too nude so that I look dead. I am really loving this one. This one has a cream finish.

Naturally Chic

25 Naturally Chic

This is a much darker rosey nude shade than the above one and I find it is too dark for my skin tone and looks quite brown on me. This would be a nice nude for someone with a medium-dark skin tone. This one has a cream finish.

Rose Amour

33 Rose Amour

This one is a really pretty bright pink shade in a cream finish.

Hot Pink Rage

15 Hot Pink Rage

This is another really bright pink in a cream finish. It is a little darker than the above shade.

Fruit Punch

11 Fruit Punch

This is a mid-toned warm pink shade. This is very pretty but I do prefer more cool toned pinks on me. This is a cream finish also.

Raspberry Rush

19 Raspberry Rush

This is a really pretty bright pink/purple shade with hot pink shimmer in it.

Sangria

21 Sangria

This is a stunning deep purple plum shade that is a great dupe for MAC’s Rebel. This is a cream finish also.

Violet Volt

34 Violet Volt

This is a gorgeous vibrant purple shade with shimmer in it.

Black Cherry

24 Black Cherry

This is a very deep vampy wine shade, gorgeous for the winter time

Let me know in the comments below if you have tried these lipsticks and what your thoughts are on them. Please also let me know if you have any shades from the collection that you would recommend.

Lorac Pro To Go Palette – Review and Swatches

DSCN2622

Hi Everyone!

Today I am going to do a quick review on the Lorac Pro To Go palette. If you are from Australia like me you will not be able to purchase this palette in stores as Lorac is not stocked anywhere here.

I got this palette off a makeup sale facebook page as someone was selling it brand new on there and had proof of authenticity so I just had a lucky find. I have heard of people getting it off Amazon or eBay but I don’t know if there are fakes on those sites or not. You may be able to purchase it somewhere online in America and use a shipping forwarding company to ship it to you but I am not sure about that either as I haven’t tried it.

DSCN2623

This palette comes in the same black cardboard rubber sort of packaging as the normal pro palette and besides the fact that it shows up finger prints really badly I really like this packaging as it is very sleek and compact. It folds out and has a mirror on the eye shadow side and also comes with two small brushes, one blending and one angled.

DSCN2624

DSCN2625

This palette comes with six eyeshadows and like the original pro palette one row is all matte and one row is all shimmer which I love because you get a great variety of shades and finishes. This palette also comes with two blushes and a bronzer on the other side so it makes for a perfect travel palette because it is small but has so many products in one.

The top row of eyeshadows are all shimmers and it contains the following shades;

shimmers

Swatches from Left to Right – Pearl, Chai, Mink

Pearl – This is a pinky pearl highlight shade

Chai – I love this shade, it is a really pretty warm bronze shade, perfect for all over the lid

Mink – This is a cool toned dark taupey/gray shade

The bottom row is all matte and has the following shades;

mattes

Swatches from Left to Right – Shell, Cafe, Black

Shell – This is a cream shade

Café – This is a warm mid toned brown that is perfect for the crease

Black –This is just a plain matte black which is perfect for smoking out looks or to use as liner

The two highlight shades, Pearl and Shell are larger in size than the other four shades. This seems to be becoming a trend in palettes now to make the highlight shades larger as most people use them more than the other shades.

The quality of these eye shadows will not disappoint, it is the exact same smooth, buttery and highly pigmented formula as the original pro palette and I have never found eye shadows like this anywhere before. They are so creamy and blendable it is amazing and I highly recommend Lorac pro eye shadows.

The blushes on the other side of the palette are also an amazing quality, very smooth and blendable. There are two blushes and one bronzer in the following shades;

Blushes

Swatches from Left to Right – Bronze, Pink, Coral

Coral – This is a peachy, pink coral shade with some very fine gold shimmer. It looks similar to NARS orgasm and would be a very flattery shade on so many skin tones.

Pink – This is a matte mid toned pink, I like this one as it is not too warm or too cool, it’s a nice in between.

Bronze – This is a matte bronzer that again like the pink blush is not too cool or too warm toned, it is a nice in between and I think it would look good on so many skin tones.

Overall I love this palette, the quality is amazing and the shades are beautiful and it is perfect for everyday or for travelling. Let me know in the comments below what your favourite Lorac products are.
